Fitness Tip of the Day!
Wrist Pain and Cycling
Ten percent of long-distance cyclists develop nerve irritation in their wrists (AJSM 8/05). This is caused by compression of the ulnar nerve and can lead to carpal tunnel syndrome. The solution?: change your hand position often.

  Calorie Converter

You can use our Calorie Converter to look up the calorie and fat content of specific menu items from dozens of franchise restaurants and hundreds of other food items.

Sure, lots of web sites offer that information.  But we tell you what you really need to know:  By entering your body weight, this tool will calculate how many minutes of exercise you need to do to burn off those calories.

Here's how it works:

  • enter your weight (lbs or kg)
  • select a menu list
  • click the check-box for the corresponding menu items

Each time you enter a menu item, the Calorie Converter will recalculate your specific exercise values.

Yes, we realize these values may surprise you, but that's the point...do you really need all that whipped cream on your latte, or the extra large order of fries?  Making good food choices may be the key to dropping those excess pounds.  Remember, if you can create a calorie deficit of 500 kcal/day, you can lose 1 pound per week.

And, we have a mobile version of this application that you can download to your PDA.  (Click on the PDAthlete® link.)
